Can I Withdraw My EPF After Leaving a Job I Had for Only 4 Months? Seeking Clarity on Restrictions

agw_deepak
Hi All,

I left the company after working for 4 months. The HR of that company is saying that I can't settle the PF as I worked less than 6 months in the company. Is there any such restriction to settle the PF? I left the company 3 months back, and the two months restriction period for EPF withdrawal is over.

Hi Deepak,

You can take 12% of your contribution, but as you have not worked for 6 months, you cannot take the employer's contribution.

Fine. And what if I transfer it to the PF account of my new company. Will I be eligible to transfer my and employer's contributions?

The EPF deducted from the employee is withdrawable in full. Regarding the Provident Fund Contribution of the employer, it is deposited in 2 accounts, namely Pension Fund (8.33%) and EPF (3.67%). The employer's contribution is withdrawable without any restriction. The Pension Fund contribution can be withdrawn only after completion of 6 months of service.

Hi Arbind,

Can I transfer the pension fund of my previous company to the pension fund of my current company? Or is it that I can neither withdraw nor transfer the pension fund?

Deepak

Yes, Deepak, all are absolutely right. You are not eligible to get 12% employer's share in your PF account if you leave your job before completing six months. But yes, you can surely use the same PF account in your new job if both the companies are in the same state.

Hi,

It is advisable to transfer your PF to a new company because you will get the total amount in your new account, including the employer's contribution as well.
