Before the first lockdown, we hired a sales candidate who joined on the 16th of March 2020 and served four days in the company. His orientation and joining formalities remained incomplete, and we were unable to complete the process. Meanwhile, our APAC management pressured us for manpower cuts and ways to reduce costs. With nothing in hand, we informed the newly joined candidate to explore other options as the company could not continue with the position.
After many discussions, pauses in communication, and considering other opinions, we agreed to resolve this matter by compensating a certain amount with mutual understanding. Last week, the company completed all formalities and handed over a cheque with amount X. The candidate agreed and accepted the compensation by signing a document.
It has been almost a week, and the cheque is yet to be deposited. The concern now is regarding the candidate's thoughts on this matter. Due to the situation, the candidate has also faced difficulties and has even threatened us with potential actions.
We would like to understand the legal aspects of this situation.
