I found an interesting piece of information regarding the compulsory allocation of SSN to all PF members by EPFO.
Seems that a new era in this field is beginning.

Dear Ag,
We have already introduced this SSN ( SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER). In my company we have already submitted the 1st lot of DULLY FILLED FORMS to P.F office.
