How Can I Secure My Resignation Approval and Trust My Company Amidst Silence?

Hello all, I have been working in an IT firm locally as a software developer, and it's been over 4 years in the company. Now, for growth, I have emailed my resignation to the Head of Organization, HR Team, and my Project Manager. I have also stated that I am ready to serve the notice period and KT (Knowledge Transfer). The next day, I logged in for work. However, I didn't receive any response from anyone in the organization. After waiting, I made a call to the Head of Manager and expressed my reasons for resignation. I asked him for the reply mail, including how many days I should serve for the notice period or KT, as I don't know the duration, and there is no section regarding the notice period in the offer letter I received upon joining the company.

He didn't confirm the days and abruptly ended the call by saying, "First complete the KT to the team, after that we will have the conversation." I completed the KT in one week and notified all concerned parties via email about the completion of KT. Two days after completing KT, I logged into work.

After two days, I received a call from the HR Team requesting that I submit the office laptop first before having any conversation, as we are currently working from home due to the pandemic. Despite my efforts to reach out through messages and calls, there was no response. They mentioned that if I don't submit the laptop, they will deduct my pay for the month and will not respond in the future.

Questions and Doubts

I have the following questions/doubts - Should I submit the laptop? Also, I haven't received any response to my resignation for up to 24 hours and my KT completion email for up to 48 hours. How can I trust that I will get a response from the organization after submitting the laptop?

Steps to Obtain Resignation Approval

What steps should I take to obtain approval for my resignation, given that I have all emails and messages documented properly? Moreover, how can I secure a new job with this background from the previous company without a relieving letter or experience letter?

Value of Past Work

Is the work I have done over the years now worthless?

Please advise me on the best course of action to navigate this situation.

You should return the company's property (laptop). In fact, you are not entitled to keep it with you without approval of resignation and/or payment of full and final dues.

As for their non-acceptance of your resignation, according to established legal principles, no employer can compel an employee to continue working with them. An employee is always free to resign as per the terms of employment.

Yes, it is the track record of the organization that they will not provide any service, relieving letters, or any verification approval for employees regarding further steps. Additionally, they do not provide monthly payslips, and there will be no consistent appreciation or yearly salary increase.

I have all the necessary proofs that confirm my employment in the company, including bank statements and emails related to my resignation, notice period, and the submission of office assets. However, despite my attempts, I have not received any replies to my emails, resulting in only one-way communication.

Do you think these pieces of evidence are sufficient for me to secure another opportunity? I am concerned that if my new employer reaches out for verification, the organization may not respond. How could this potentially affect my career?
