Nautiyal04
Dear Team, we have an employee who joined in 2019, but we didn't include them in the PF at that time. Now, we want to include them. Is there any way to add them during their service? Kindly suggest.

In India, as per the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, it is mandatory for establishments with 20 or more employees to provide PF benefits. If you wish to add an employee to the PF scheme who was not initially included, you can follow these steps:

- Check PF Eligibility: Ensure that the employee meets the eligibility criteria for PF membership based on their salary and employment status.

- Inform the PF Department: Notify the PF department of your intention to add the employee retrospectively.

- Calculate Arrears: Calculate the arrears of both the employer's and employee's contributions from the date of the employee's joining in 2019 until the current period.

- Update PF Records: Update the employee's PF details in your records and the PF department's records. This includes generating a UAN (Universal Account Number) if not already assigned.

- Generate Challan: Generate a challan for the arrears and deposit the pending contributions along with any applicable interest.

- Employee Communication: Inform the employee about the inclusion in the PF scheme and provide them with necessary details like UAN, contribution amounts, etc.

- Document the Process: Maintain records of the retrospective inclusion process for future reference and compliance purposes.

By following these steps, you can include the employee in the PF scheme retrospectively and ensure compliance with the legal requirements.
