Dear Sirs,

One of the workers met with an accident during the course of employment 1.6 years ago. Management has taken care of him medically and financially. He lost his right hand up to the elbow but continued in employment.

He has obtained a government job and recently submitted a claim to the Deputy Commissioner of Labour for compensation. The authority has issued a memo to the management inquiring why the notification was not made and requesting information on compensation. Kindly provide guidance on this matter.

Thank you.

Dear Venkateswaralu,

What you are involved in is a quasi-judicial litigation in the form of a claim for compensation for the permanent physical disability sustained in an employment accident. Ultimately, if the claimant wins the case, you will have to shell out a lot of money by way of compensation, reimbursement of the medical expenses, plus 10% simple interest from the date of the accident by way of interest for the entire period of default.

So, it's better to engage the services of a lawyer to move further.
