Can we generate the full EPF for the deceased employee in the same month as the death claim? One of our employees passed away on May 21. Should we generate the ECR for the full days present?
In a normal situation, the establishment pays the full-month salary in case of death. ECR does not ask for the number of days worked, but it asks for NCP. In the case of death, it is 0 (zero), so there is nothing wrong with the above ECR.
Calculating Final Settlement for Deceased Employee
If you are confirmed with the date of death as 21st May 2021, you can calculate his salary up to 20th May 2021 and include any additional benefits in his final settlement. Please ensure there is no room for any query from the EPFO.
There are cases where the workman performed his duty and died after reaching home safely. In such cases, the salary calculation should be up to his last working day.
