Facing a Transfer: Can I Delay My Start Date with Privilege Leave Due to Personal Issues?

Dear Team, I have been transferred to Adilabad, which is 150 km away from my current location. Although my report date has already been set, I am facing some personal issues that will prevent me from reporting on time. Is it possible for me to take 2 weeks of privilege leave and join at a later date, or is reporting mandatory? Could the reporting date be postponed? Please advise.

When the date is given for reporting at the transferred place, the expectation is that it will be complied with. Since you are already relieved, you will have to approach the new office for leave. If it is agreed, your purpose is served. Otherwise, you may have to report on the given date and then seek leave.

The decision regarding your leave is under consideration by your management. You could have asked for leave when you were transferred to Adilabad. It would be beneficial for you to discuss this with the boss and request seven days of leave by email.

Not reporting to the place of duty on the appointed date and proceeding on leave without the grant of leave is deemed as serious misconduct.
