Garment Industry Dilemma: Are Tailor Trainings Semi-Skilled or Unskilled? Seeking Advice

I am working in the garment industry, and we cater to various brands of UK and US clients.

Question: Is training tailors considered in the semi-skilled category or the unskilled category? Kindly suggest.

Definition of Skilled, Semi-Skilled, and Unskilled Workers

A person who can perform a certain task requiring a specific skill (meaning not just anyone without experience or expertise can do that task) and can work independently without supervision and constant review is considered skilled. A person who needs supervision, guidance, and review is semi-skilled.

If the trainees are completely new and are being taught to stitch, then they would be considered unskilled. Otherwise, they are mostly semi-skilled.

Training Tailors: Skill Categorization

The word "TAILOR" itself specifies the skill of an employee. Training for tailors should be provided to those who are either helpers or beginners. It is better to categorize them as unskilled until the completion of the course. After completing the training, they should be categorized as semi-skilled until they complete their probation or training period.

Please clarify whether you are referring to the person who is going to train the tailors or the tailors being trained by him. Obviously, any trainer is a professional person and does not fall into the skill category of workers.
