Returning to Work After a 6-Year Break: What's a Fair Salary Expectation for My Experience?

usha_murli
Hi,

I am a finance professional (ICWA and CS) with 10 years of work experience. I quit my job 6 years ago as I had to take care of my son. Now I am planning to join back the industry. I have received offers from two good MNC companies. Can anyone tell me what could be my current market value (expected CTC) based on my qualifications and experience?

Thanks in advance.

Dear Usha,

In the present scenario, your education and knowledge are still relevant, but your experience has become obsolete. Therefore, the CTC or package that any company can offer you will be based on your education and knowledge rather than your experience. It is important to acknowledge that in the past 10 years, there have been changes in the syllabus of ICSI and ICWAI, as well as in the way companies operate.

Hence, if I were to offer you a CTC, it would be between 5.50 lakhs to 7.50 lakhs per annum. If your work quality, adaptability to the workplace culture, and knowledge meet the required standards, I might consider offering you a 60-75% increment after one year. However, the initial package would fall in the range of 5.50 lakhs to 7.50 lakhs per annum.

Feel free to contact me for any further information.

Regards,
Sanjeev
