Understanding EDLI Death Claim: How Much Will EPFO Grant in This Case?

Dear all, please let me know what will be the EDLI death claim calculation as per the below details:

- Date of joining: 01/09/2018
- Date of Death: 11/12/2018
- Basic Salary: 8500/-

How much claim amount is granted by EPFO?

The death date is December 2018, and in December 2020, the query is posted. The employer is required to update the EPFO immediately about the death. You have also annexed the list of rules. What exactly was found by the practicing HR of the establishment? To what extent did they extend help to the family of the deceased?

Scrutiny of Death Claim

As the member has not completed even one year, the death will be subject to scrutiny. A sum of 1.5 lacs may be granted by EPF on account of the EPS claim, provided the claim is found eligible and complete in all contexts.

EDLI Claim Calculation Inquiry

Respected sir,

The EDLI claim was submitted on 16/12/19 and passed by EPFO on 07/12/20. The EDLI claim amount is 1507+1507 for both nominee accounts (mother & father). When I asked EPFO how to calculate the EDLI death claim, they replied, "Member's service less than 12 months, EDLI benefits are paid as per rules calculated by the system." Is this the correct answer by EPFO?

The EDLI calculation for less than 12 months' contribution is different from 30 or 35 times the average basic plus 50% of the balance EPF. I am also searching as I am not able to recall.

EPFO rightly said, in this case, only PF contributions of the employee and employer, plus interest on it, are payable up to a maximum of 50,000.
