Worried About Background Checks? What Happens If Your First Employer Closed Down?

saurabh-mishra1
I have 6+ years of experience and received an offer from one of the Big 4. I submitted the documents for background verification. My first previous company is closed (it was my first company). I received an email from the background verification team requesting alternate/functional company contact details of my previous employer (now closed). I responded to the email explaining that the company has been shut down. Will this situation lead to a background verification failure? Please answer this if anybody knows.

With regards to your BGV concerns, there is no reason to decline your BGV as the company has closed its operations. You can provide whatever available documents you have from that company to the BGV firm; they will check and revert to you. No need to worry about this.

You can provide the contact details of the top managerial personnel of the former unit if you have access to them. Background verification could be conducted as a result.
