Can Employer C Discover My Past Job with A Through My UAN Number?

I have worked for two employers—A and B (current), and I am going to join employer C. I do not want employer C to know about my previous employment with A. Is there any way they could access details of my employment with A using my UAN number?

No, there is no issue, and an employer cannot track your employment.

If you worked only for a very short period in A (1, 2, 3, 4 months), you can hide a gap of above 5 months that may be questioned. Otherwise, I have a few questions for you here:

1. What is the harm in sharing the details?
2. How many years did you work in "A"?
3. Are you prepared with a justification for the duration of your employment at "A" company (1/2/3 years) if you are hiding it?
4. What if "C" asks you to submit all relieving and experience letters from previous employers during onboarding?

In the case of EPF, once Form 13 is submitted and settled for transfer from A to B, the data is not available except for the last employment. The balance is hidden, except for the last employment for linking. However, if this is not done, you will feel the heat of linking all through the present employer. HR or the employer does not bother about such issues of generating history from the EPF site. Finding past history through EPF is a tiring task and usually not done by HR or the employer.

Thank you.
