PT applicability - started hiring an employee on a pan India basis - should we deduct PT as per his state?

Hi,

Kindly help me with P.T. applicability. My company is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, but in the last two months, we started hiring employees on a pan-India basis. In this regard, I would like to know if the employee is based in West Bengal or any other state, then should we deduct PT as per his state or as per the company's origin.

Where have you taken the PT Regn., in Maharashtra or WB? Also, where is the employee drawing their salary? Are they covering WB on a tour or stationed there?

What's his official headquarters is the deciding factor.

Corrected:

"What is his official headquarters? That is the deciding factor."

An employee working for a company located in X state and has PTRC registration taken from that state, and where the salary sheet is made under the company name, then it is obvious the PT of that state will be applicable.

If your employees work on a deputation/temporary basis, then there is no need to obtain a separate P tax registration. However, if employees work on a regular basis, you must acquire a separate P tax registration for West Bengal. There is an online registration process available.
