Stuck Without a Relieving Letter: How Can I Resolve This with My Former Employer?

I have resigned from the company on 3rd Jan 2020. The manager approved my resignation, stating "relieved with immediate effect, LWD 3rd Jan 2020, no need to serve notice period," on 10th Jan 2020. Since then, for 9 months, I have been following up with the company, but there has been no response.

I would appreciate some guidance on how to handle this situation, as my new employer is requesting a relieving letter from my past employers, which is mandatory.

Yes, a Relieving & Experience Letter are mandatory documents to submit when you join any new organization. Since it's been 7 months and you haven't received your separation letters, I would suggest dropping an email to the HR department concerned, keeping your manager in CC. If the aforementioned step has already been taken and there has been no response, then you should visit the office to understand the rationale, or you may also escalate the matter to higher authorities.

Additionally, if they have released you on the same date as your resignation, you are entitled to receive salary in lieu of the notice period as per the clause mentioned in your appointment letter (please do check).

Meeting the Previous Manager for Relieving and Experience Letters

Why don't you meet and ask the previous manager who relieved you for the relieving and experience letters (or both combined in one letter)? What's blocking you from meeting him? If he refuses, then you can ask in writing. Don't delay further.
