Acetone is a petroleum product of Class A category for which you need to obtain a license for importing, transporting, and storing if the quantity exceeds 30 liters. Acetone is a hydrocarbon/ketone.

Licensing Requirements for Acetone

This license is issued under Section 4 of The Petroleum Act, 1934, by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), formerly the Department of Explosives, with its head office in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Apart from the license from PESO, you also need to seek permission from your local government for the storage of such a product.
