Concerned About a Warning Letter for Absenteeism? How It Might Affect Your Job Background Check

mahesh-babu
Hello all, I received a warning letter for absenteeism for 3 days. Will this cause any issues during the background verification process for a new company?

No problem. Good companies will not make any negative remarks in BGV unless you have been punished for severe misconduct that affected the company's property or the company's image.

Normally, absenteeism of three days is not considered to be of long duration, and it should not create any problems. However, whenever one intends to take leave, especially in emergencies, the individual employee is supposed to inform their immediate supervisor, preferably through a message or email. Furthermore, in the case of a long leave, it is expected that the employee informs the office well in advance.

If you have re-joined the organization and resolved this matter with your current managers, then it should not be a cause for concern. However, if the absenteeism has resulted in any disciplinary action, it could show up in your Background Verification (BGV) Report.
