Should an employee who joined as intern initially be issued with internship certificate and experience letter?

Hi,
Can anyone please help me with the below given question?
Question: If a candidate joins as intern and then later is given full time employement, so at the time of resignation should he be given an internship certificate for the tenure he worked as an intern and experience letter for the duration he worked as full time employee or only one experience letter mentioning the joining and relieving date?
Kindly mention the supporting reason.

Internship certificate should have been issued to him on the end date of his internship with your company. Now he has been working with you as a permanent employee, who , presumably, resigned. Hence now, you can issue an experience certificate from the date of joining in his permanent employment till the date of relieving.
However you can mention in the experience certificate that " he had completed internship with our company for the period of ... years (or months whichever is applicable) with effect from ... to .... "

Dear Nair Sir,
So this is to say that internship certificate should be issued soon after internship completion irrespective of the fact that intern joins as permanent employee or or his tenure ends with the Company?
Also, won't it be right to issue the internship certificate (mentioning the internship tenure) now along with the experience letter (mentioning the employment tenure).

As you have not issued internship certificate earlier, how can you issue now. You can not issue a certificate with back date (without permission of the chief executive of your company).
Now you can issue experience certificate, as suggested by me in my earlier post.

The Intern should be provided with Internship joining letter as well as Experience certificate irrespective of the fact whether we consider him / her for future prospects. This will complete the cycle of his / her joining and completion of Internship.
Hope, this clears your doubt.
