Navigating Compromise Requests in Sexual Harassment Cases: What Should Internal Committees Decide?

Kritarth Consulting
Never Too Late to Learn Lesson-4

What should Internal Committees do if an Employee-Respondent seeks compromise with an Aggrieved-Woman-Complainant?

While participating as an IC Member (External) in IC Inquiry Proceedings into a Sexual Harassment Complaint, the Employee-Respondent sought permission for a compromise with the Complainant and closing the inquiry at that stage. The Aggrieved Woman-Complainant was perplexed. She was an employee at the Assistant Level, whereas the Employee-Respondent held a Senior Managerial Position.

The "Issue" before this Internal Committee was "What decision would be appropriate, fair, just, proper, and lawful?"

I earnestly seek CiteHR Member-Readers' opinions or views so that a lawful decision is taken by Internal Committees, present and future.
