Navigating PF Transfers for a Deceased Employee: How Can We Help the Family?

One of our employees passed away unexpectedly due to illness. He previously worked in another company as a contractor for 10 years and did not transfer his PF amount to our company's account. Now, please guide me on whether it is possible to transfer the deceased employee's PF account to our existing PF account, allowing his family members to claim the amount. If this is possible, kindly provide me with the necessary guidance.

It is not possible to transfer the accounts using the online facility even if you have the password of the member portal because it would be blocked following your reason for exit as death. In this scenario, the PF department will allow an offline application for transfer. Use Form 13 and apply for transfer, taking the signature of the previous employer. After effecting the transfer, apply for withdrawal.
