Navigating Name Discrepancies in UAN for a Deceased Employee: Will It Affect EPF Claims?

sanithas2312
One of our employees has passed away. The names on his UAN, SSLC certificate, Aadhaar card, and death certificate are different. If we submit an application, will his form get rejected? What is the procedure to update the name in the UAN? It has been about a year since his passing. Due to delays in obtaining the necessary documents, confusion in filling out forms, lockdown restrictions, etc., we have not been able to proceed with the application. Will this situation cause any issues? Please provide a solution.

Procedure for Updating PF Records After an Employee's Death

The application will certainly be rejected if you apply with the available documents. Therefore, before proceeding, you must provide a joint declaration signed by the claimant and the employer to effect changes in the PF records as per the Aadhaar.

Changes Required in the Death Certificate

Changes required to be made in the death certificate according to Aadhaar should be done separately. You cannot change the Aadhaar details of a deceased person because it would require the biometric information of the person, which is not possible.

With a joint declaration supported by Aadhaar, you can effect changes in the PF records.
