Job Offer Withdrawn Due to COVID-19: How to Cope After Notice Period Ends?

seetha-ram1
Hi all,

I received the offer letter via mail and have accepted it vice-versa. My joining date was supposed to be on April 2, 2020. However, due to Covid-19, the employer postponed my joining to a later date, post-June. Unfortunately, on May 26, 2020, the employer sent a mail withdrawing the offer.

My notice period at the previous employer ended on March 31, 2020, and they have since filled my position. I am currently jobless. Can anyone provide guidance? (India, Bangalore)

Hope for Joining in June 2020

You still have hope to join in June 2020, so you may reach out to the prospective employer to finalize and firmly commit to the date of joining. Meanwhile, scrutinize your records about:

1. How did your prospective employer indicate to you that you need not join them with effect from 2.4.2020, the date agreed upon by the two parties?
2. Or else, why did you not join them with effect from 2.4.2020?
3. What restrained you from writing back to your previous employer, informing/requesting them that you were withdrawing your resignation request/application, irrespective of the fact that your resignation was accepted in response to your tendering resignation with effect from the date indicated by you?

Beseech and entreat your prospective employer.
