Twitter said Tuesday it is unlikely to open its offices before September, and that many of its employees will be permitted to work from home permanently even after the end of the coronavirus lockdowns. "We were uniquely positioned to respond quickly and allow folks to work from home given our emphasis on decentralization and supporting a distributed workforce capable of working from anywhere," a Twitter spokesperson said.

This is clearly becoming the trend and presents both unique challenges and opportunities.

This is a good move by the company in creating a platform for "Work from Home" before September, considering the conditions so that the business should not come to a standstill. However, not all business units are fortunate enough to adopt 'Work From Home' as it is not a viable and feasible proposition.

Remote Work Trends and Implications

This is another piece of news I received today. It's forwarded. Normally, I do not pay much attention to any forwards, but this is relevant to the current subject matter. I remembered it and thought of copying and pasting it here. It's a really frightening one.

Google and Facebook announced that they will not have any offices until 2021. All that the employees need to work on is the internet. In this way, they will save 1 million dollars as rent every month, and employees will save 2,000 dollars in rent every month for an apartment closer to the office. Also, they will pick up talent from across the world from any country because of remote working. Salary scales will drop, and people will stop migrating to bigger cities for jobs and higher salary demands. Also, people will leave bigger cities and move to lesser-known scenic and beautiful places and beaches since working is remote. It further says that gradually, COVID will go away, but the disease will remain for many years, and there will be no need to issue visas and follow immigration procedures due to remote working. This effect will certainly impact India wherever US enterprises are working. God bless us all!
