In 1976, I landed in Kathmandu as the Chief of Finance and Accounts for our project in Tahchal, Kathmandu. I became self-motivated. During that time, for typing letters, there was only a typewriter. My boss would write on a writing pad with corrections, additions, and deletions, and then the letter had to be typed out. The first thing I did was rush to New Road in Kathmandu and buy an Oxford Learner's Dictionary near the Rachna Theater Book Shop. It is essential to identify what is important and equip yourself with the necessary tools for your job.
Read lots of business magazines and topics related to your field to equip yourself. You don't need to make it public. Equip yourself with the required tools to face any situation.
Never be afraid of any situation. Learn to say no when you don't want to say yes. This will save you from many bad situations later on. Never do others' work, but guide them on how to do it when someone brings you a problem. If you start doing their job, they won't do yours. Remember that always. Helping is different from doing others' jobs. Today, there is no need for brainwork in the job; computers can do it all. So, don't get carried away.
When you need to sign somewhere, have the person keep the document in front of you. Read the document fully and ensure your points are placed correctly. The word "no" being missed out or added can completely change the meaning, so be cautious.
Never trust anyone blindly at work; always be aware.
