Should a 30-Year-Old with a Settled EPF Account Rejoin EPF in New Job?

dinesh rajbhar
A person aged about 30 years, being proposed for employment on a basic wage of Rs. 16,000 per month, has a Universal Account Number (UAN) allotted by the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) for his previous employer. He had already withdrawn his EPF and Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) accumulations from his previous employment.

Should he be enrolled as a member of the EPF in his new employment, or will he be treated as an exempted employee?

Under EPF Schemes, an employee who draws more than Rs15,000 per month at the time of joining is considered a non-eligible employee. However, he can become a member if he voluntarily chooses to do so and the PF commissioner agrees. For more information, please refer to Section 1(ff) of the EPF Act 1952.
