Understanding Maternity Leave: Can My Wife Get Leave for Pregnancy-Related Illness?

drakshay8
My wife has been diagnosed with subchorionic hemorrhage after 3 months of pregnancy and has been admitted to the hospital for 3 weeks. The baby is healthy, and the pregnancy is ongoing. Will she be able to avail these 3 weeks of leave (before availing maternity leave of 26 weeks) as per the provisions of the Maternity Benefit Act, considering the illness is caused due to pregnancy?

Certainly, dear friend. You have to produce a proper medical certificate with your application for the leave under Section 10 of the MBA, 1961.
