Hi, my name is Gowri Shankar. I was working as HR & Admin in my previous company, Caxid Tech. Since I was the sole HR for 40 people across 3 departments, I was able to learn about the administrative and recruitment aspects of HR, as well as the importance of enforcing policies and regulations within an organization. When the effects of the pandemic started to impact our business, our founder had to lay off me and a whole department. Consequently, I have decided to move on and I am now eyeing my next job in an HRBP role.

Having implemented strategic initiatives such as training and appraisal programs (including a 360-degree assessment, especially for the IT department), I believe I have gained valuable insights into the strategic nature of HR's role within an organization. The sudden loss of my job due to the pandemic has prompted me to seek new opportunities. I am contemplating how to transition into this new role beyond simply reading articles online about its strategic aspects. I recognize the importance of having data on organizational challenges in order to develop a strategic mindset.
