My company has forced retired me prematurely with back dated effect during lockdown without giving notice.

My company informed me on 4/4/2020 that I have been retired with effect from 1/4/2020. I am 58 years and 2 months old. Previously, the retirement age of the company was 60 years. The news of this sudden retirement during the lockdown has left me perplexed. I am finding it difficult to understand how to deal with this unexpected, insensitive, forced, and premature retirement.

No retirement age can be changed without giving notice of change under Section 9A of the Industrial Disputes Act. Please write to the company first to withdraw the retirement letter. If the situation is not rectified, then contact the labor commissioner. If you are in Mumbai, write to the Chief Secretary of the Government of Maharashtra as he has issued an order under Section 24 of the Disaster Management Act. Any violation of this order will attract legal action under Section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act. Also, forward a copy to the company.
