Remote Work Challenges: How Do You Handle Low Productivity and Temporary Layoffs?

kansoft-sol
Hello all,

Due to COVID-19, we are all working remotely, which has led to some employees not working seriously and not meeting the standards. As a result, I am in need of a format for temporary layoff or termination until the office resumes.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Thanks in advance!

Have you specified standards?

Has your organization given guidelines?

What is the basis of this conclusion? Please issue advisories first.

Devise a reporting system online, then only use the stick. Carrot first.

Steps to Address Employee Performance Issues

You cannot directly lay off or terminate employees.

Please do the following:

1. Define clear-cut measurable parameters of work that must be completed by the employees.

2. If the employees fail to complete the work, serve them with a warning letter.

3. Disciplinary action can only be taken if the employees do not complete the work.

4. Ensure that disciplinary action is proportionate.

5. If the employees fall under the category of workmen, termination cannot occur without a domestic inquiry.

The provisions of layoff might not be useful at the moment, as full salary must be paid to the employees as per government directives under the Disaster Management Act.

Be cautious as the actions taken could be seen as a tactic to avoid paying salaries, leading to potential litigation from employees in the future if proper procedures are not followed.

Hope this helps.
