Youngest Manager in a Leading Retail Chain: A Year in Review
I'm 22, the youngest manager in one of the world's leading retail chains in India, operating a B2B concept. I have completed a year with the organization. I received a rating of 4 out of 5 in the annual appraisal. I'm the only one who received a 4 rating in my club, as mentioned by my BU-HR. I was extremely shocked and disappointed when I went through my increment letter. I received an exact hike of 7%, which was much lower than my colleagues who received a rating of 3.
Response from Market HR
When I discussed this with my market HR, the response I received was as follows:
*"The organization's rewards philosophy does not have a standard percentage for a particular rating; it depends on the current compensation and percentile bucketing as well. I will discuss more when I call you, currently in a meeting. Your performance has been very good, and your passion and commitment to work are unparalleled."*
Seeking Advice: Next Steps
Is it my mistake for being in a higher compensation bracket? It really hurts after putting in a year of hard work and being away from home for a year. It pains me a lot when I get mocked by colleagues for what I received, and I am from Chennai working in Indore.
Please suggest what I am supposed to do next in this situation.
