Job on Hold Due to Covid: Can I Resign for a New Offer Without Notice Issues?

Rohit1986
I am part of the sales team of an IT company for the past year. Due to the recent Covid situation, they have informed me via email that my position is on hold. Once the situation returns to normal, they will notify me about my return to work.

Considering a New Job Offer

In this scenario, if I have another job offer, can I resign? Please advise. If so, would there be any negative repercussions regarding my relieving letter since my notice period is 90 days? Someone mentioned that resigning in this situation means I am not obligated to serve the notice period.

I would appreciate your insights on all aspects, including the legal perspective.

Thank you.

Position kept on hold - does it mean they are not paying you? They are keeping you in an uncertain position. You look around for another job and when you land one, speak to your company tactfully and get a clean exit. Legalities take time to be sorted out, and court battles are time and money-consuming. Try for a negotiated and friendly exit.
