Struggling to Retrieve My PF Number After Leaving Job on Short Notice – Any Advice?

mangalsingh81
I worked for 16 months in an organization and left that in March 2006. Till now, I am trying to get my PF Number from them, but they are not providing me the same. The reason being that I left the job after giving them a short notice of a week, which should have been one month. But I have not got one month's salary, relieving certificate, and experience letter in lieu of that. They are not ready to talk in this regard, whereas they had a clause that either give one month's notice or pay one month's salary. How do I get my PF number? Is there any way to find it out? I have all details related to that organization. Please advise me on what to do.

Hi all,

I was earlier thinking of putting up a case in the labour court but I stopped myself because of my unavailability of time to attend the hearings of this case. Is there any other possible/effective alternative?

Hi Mangal,

If you have the salary slip from your previous company, you can check it there. Normally, every salary slip has it except for the initial couple of months.

Hi Mangal,

I would have advised you better if you had your PF number. Anyways, your salary has been credited by the company. Send a notice either through a lawyer or by yourself via RPAD to provide the PF number for the PF deductions made to you. In case you still haven't received the PF number, send a reminder notice and specify that your inability to provide the PF number casts doubt on whether my contributions are being remitted to the PF account. This constitutes a gross violation of the rules outlined in The EPF Act, 1952.

If the employer has provided you with the PF number but is not processing your PF form, you can directly forward it to the PF commissioner. The commissioner may then forward such an application to the employer, who is required to respond within 5 days of receipt as per para 72(5)(d) of the EPF scheme.

I hope I have clarified your doubts.

Hi Rajeev,

No PF number appears on any of the 16 salary slips I received from that company. However, they have provided me with a PF number for the Delhi Region where the account shows a balance of around 250 rupees in the annual slip that we receive. Subsequently, the PF transfer occurred, and it was moved to Uttar Pradesh. I did not receive the PF number for this transfer, and the majority of the funds are in this account.

Dear Mangal,

RPAD stands for Registered Post Acknowledgment Due, and that's all. To know your PF details, meet the concerned EPF Enforcement Officer of your locality or log in to the site of your Regional Provident Fund Organisation. I presume that although your contribution towards EPF has been deducted from your salary, nothing has been remitted by your employer, nor have your Declaration and Nomination forms been submitted to EPFO. It is advisable to meet the concerned PF Inspector (Enforcement Officer) directly.

I have no EPF account number or status for registration. I am still working with a national company in Ahmedabad for the last 10 months. Our Head Office is in Mumbai, and we have 18 branches all over India. I am the Chief Accountant. We receive our salary after deductions of EPF and PT. Sometimes, the payslip is given, sometimes not. I want to know the status of my EPF account. What can I do for that? Thank you. Bharat Panchal

Dear friend,

Leaving the organization without completing the work (Notice Period) is not ethical. But it doesn't stop you from getting the PF number. You can get the number from the concerned PF office.
