Can Unskilled Workers Have a 5-Day Week with 10-Hour Days and Two Days Off?

Reshama
Dear Team,

Kindly guide on weekly holidays. Can workmen (unskilled) work 10 hours daily and avail two days off weekly? i.e., a 5-day week.
Madhu.T.K
The maximum hours of work per day is 9 hours, excluding intervals for rest. The spread over, i.e., the time including intervals for rest, cannot be more than 10 hours and 30 minutes. For example, if you have only a 30-minute break for lunch, you can make the workers work for 10 hours. However, the hours of work per week shall not exceed 48 hours. In this case, your workers would be working for 50 hours per week, which is not permissible.

Rightly said by Mr. Madhu, as per the Factories Act 1948, the weekly number of working hours is 48 hours, and on a daily basis, it is 8 hours but can be extended maximum up to 9 hours.
