Maternity Pay for Non-ESIC: How Do Employers Calculate and What Steps Are Involved?

Kamini0894
I want to understand how maternity amount is calculated for non-ESIC. Does the employer pay 6 months' gross salary or basic salary? What are the procedures to be followed by an employer? If the employee's gross salary is Rs. 26,202, then what would be the maternity amount to be paid?

Hi,

For non-ESI, full salary is to be paid for 182 days as per the MB Act. Employees are required to submit a maternity leave request letter along with a medical certificate.

Thank you.

The employee is eligible for gross salary during maternity leave days. Gross salary shall include the basic salary and all fixed allowances. The only component that can be excluded is the allowances based on attendance, telephone, and other reimbursements, and variable incentives. If the monthly gross salary is Rs 26,202, you should pay it after deducting PF and taxes, if applicable.
