Maternity Leave and Uterus Removal
Maternity leave is applicable only when a woman avails leave before and after the delivery of a pregnancy. In normal circumstances, the removal of the uterus is not covered under the Maternity Benefit Act (MBAct).
However, in the very uncommon situation where the removal of the uterus is necessitated due to a severe crisis immediately following pregnancy, such as severe postpartum bleeding or rupture of the uterus, the removal of the uterus would come under the purview of the MBAct. But removal of the uterus without any connection to a pregnancy complication will not be covered under the Act.
