Can We Use Computerized Records Instead of Muster Rolls Under the Factories Act?

Hello Everyone,

Can we obtain an exemption in order to maintain the Muster roll under the Factories Act, and instead maintain a computerized record available as per our punching data?

Exemption under the Factories Act or Payment of Wages Act

Exemption under the Factories Act or Payment of Wages Act is granted upon clear proof of maintaining a different format. All the details required in the Muster Roll and Pay Slip should be maintained in another format or electronically and should be made available to the workers on time.

If you can demonstrate that your electronic data format printout contains the specific information required to be maintained, then print it out. Submit it with a covering letter to the Chief Inspector of Factories to request an exemption, ensuring the required stamp fee is affixed to the covering note.
