Confused About Resignation Dates: Should I Follow My First or Second Submission?

Hi, I have submitted my resignation to my boss, and after that, he tried to convince me not to do so. At that time, I said to him, "I'll think and get back to you." After 15 days, I called him to say that I will not be continuing, but I'll serve my notice period. Then he again asked me to send my resignation mail.

Question about resignation process

Is it right to ask for a resignation even once submitted just because I took time to think? Now he forwarded my second resignation mail to HR for processing. So now, do I have to give my notice period from my second resignation, or should I consider my first date of resignation?

Since the first resignation letter was neither withdrawn by you, the employee, nor accepted or not accepted by your employer in writing, the employer is bound to make a decision on the first letter tendering resignation. The second letter of resignation filed for whatever reason is to be deemed redundant.

Technically, the first resignation date is what matters. But if there is an issue and the date of the second resignation does not affect your larger plans, then there is no point in fighting for dates.
