Is there any way to identify fake companies? No information available with respect to labor law compliance?

In India, the Association of IT companies, NASSCOM, maintains the employees' database, and companies conduct background verification before providing employment. However, there is no available information about companies regarding compliance with labor laws.

Especially in the IT industry, non-compliance with labor laws and the presence of fake companies are significant concerns. There are many small companies in the IT sector. Is there a way to address this problem?

If you are asking this question as an employee, I would suggest you to look for the reviews of the company online. Google it. Sites like Glassdoor offer reviews about the companies. In case of any non-compliance, you will come to know about the company through the reviews of employees. Though reviews may not be exactly right, if one particular aspect is repeatedly criticized, then you can understand the issue behind it.

Thank you for your suggestion. Apart from these forums, is there any other way (labor department or any other concerned departments if available) to know the companies' details regarding non-compliance of labor laws.

Visit the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. If the company is registered, you will get the following information about the company. (In each state, ROC (Registrar of Companies) is present, and you can also check their site regarding the company's status):

- LLPIN / CIN / 1A Ref No
- Company or LLP Name
- State
- Registration Date
- Company Status

If you receive information as described above, that particular company is registered by the Government of India.
