Feeling Trapped: How Should Employees Handle Unreasonable Pressure Over a Missed EMI?

Incident with a Customer's EMI

I work in an NBFC as a branch manager. This is regarding one EMI missed by my branch customer. The management and seniors are pressuring me to get the EMI anyhow. A couple of days back, one collection manager from a different city went to the customer's residence at 8:30 at night. In the absence of the customer, he abused his mother, wife, and daughter (using the worst words that you can say to any female) and left immediately. I was unaware of this incident until the customer informed me and threatened to complain to the police.

The next day, I informed the incident to top management, but they told me to go and collect the EMI anyhow. They are torturing me daily, and tonight around 10 pm, they are asking me to go and sit at the customer's place. The customer is already so irritated that he has asked to initiate legal action against him and has threatened that he will take legal action for torturing him. Now the company is torturing me, and my blood pressure has gone up drastically. I have submitted my resignation via email as well. This is one incident I want to share just to know if employees have any rights or if they are for exploitation only.

Even some of the scheduled banks in the private sector are frequently alleged to be involved in arm-twisting concerning loan defaulters. Therefore, there is no use in lamenting over such behavior of NBFCs. However, the poster should not be caught in the crossfire between the defaulter and the company. These kinds of tribulations are usually imposed upon employees by usurers. If the work culture of an NBFC is unfortunately similar to that of a cruel and extortionate money lender, one employed therein in a managerial position would certainly be helpless by all means. It would be better if the poster should quit and seek alternative employment elsewhere.
