Leave allocation - if an employee joins in the middle of the year - May to December?

Hi, We give 14 Earned leaves over the period of 12 months i.e. Jan to Dec. Now if we have a person joining in May 15 supposedly then he will get around 9 leaves on pro-rata basis. So my question is will these 9 (or 8.8 to be specific) leaves if distributed monthly basis it will be calculated as 9/12 = 0.75 leaves per month or 9/8 = 1.12 leaves per month considering the time span as May to December?

Hi Saumya,
It should be 9 leaves spread over for the period May to December and no need to bifurcate month wise. You cannot sanction 0.75 leave for a employee ? In case of resignation of employee in the middle then you may sanction leave till his service period on pro-rata basis.
Not sure which State Shops and Establishment Act you come under. As per Shops and Establishment Act Employee will become eligible for EL after completion of certain months with the Company as stipulated by the Act. However some companies directly credit EL or PL from DOJ itself.
