Understanding Sandwich Leave Policy: Can Unpaid Days Be Included in a 5-Day Workweek?

Dear Members, I have been searching for a query on sandwich leaves over Google, Cite HR, etc., but I am unable to find my query. I hope someone will clarify here.

Sandwich Leave Policy Query

Can we consider unpaid days for sandwich leaves? We are a 5-day working company, and we do not pay for Saturday and Sunday. The paid working days for the month are 22 or 23, depending on the month. Now, can I apply the sandwich leave policy here for those who take leave on Friday and Monday? Where can I consider Saturday and Sunday under leaves? However, leaves are paid days, and here we do not pay for weekends.

Sandwich leave is purely dependent on the relations between employer-employee and company policy. In a 5-day working module, no absence is permitted either on Friday or Monday. If an employee does so, the 2 days' leave (Saturday/Sunday) is marked as not payable in the usual course. Before making any such leave plan, the employee has to discuss the same with senior management, especially with HR.

Hi,

If you are applying for leave, then Saturday and Sunday count as leave, but according to your company's rules, Saturday and Sunday are not payable.
