How Do I Update My EPF Details and Get a UAN After Changing My Personal Info?

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read my query. I would like to know how to go about my PF withdrawal.

I worked with an MNC from 2010 to 2012, nearly two years. My last date with the company was June 2012. I had a PF account with the company. I didn't get a UAN number when I resigned in 2012. After that company, I worked in two other companies, but those companies were really small, so no PF was provided.

Now I am not working. It's been more than two months since my last resignation. The problem I am facing now is: I had changed my date of birth and mobile number after resigning from the first company, the company with which I started my PF. Now I want to change the details of my EPF, i.e., change the date of birth and contact number and get a UAN so that I can withdraw my PF amount. Currently, I am not working with any company. I have updated my Aadhar, Voter's ID, and PAN card with the new date of birth.

Steps to Update EPF Details

Where can I edit my EPF details with the correct information? How can I get my UAN number? Any help for my current dilemma would be really helpful.

UAN and PF Withdrawal Process

If you left the company in 2012, you might not have a UAN because the system was not introduced at that time. However, the list of UANs sent to that company by the EPFO may include your UAN. You can check with that company to obtain the UAN. Otherwise, you will need to generate the UAN yourself, update it with KYCs, and mark the exit. If that method does not work, you may file an offline application for PF withdrawal. Sometimes the EPFO may refuse to accept it. In that case, you can ask them to process it at their end.

Dear Ravi, thanks for your reply  My EPFO is updated with the old PAN card details with the wrong DOB. After quitting my job with the old company, I changed my PAN card DOB. I then took Aadhar and updated my date of birth. I am wondering whether I can update my details in EPF correctly and then obtain a correct UAN.

Dear Madhu, thanks for your reply  Much appreciated. I tried contacting my previous company, and they have outsourced HR operations of previous employees to a consultancy. Anyways, I will try contacting them again and attempt to reach the EPF office.

You can check using your Aadhar Card if they have allotted it or not. It is available on the EPFO portal.
