Leaving a Probationary Role Early: Do I Owe My Educational Institution 3 Months' Salary?

akshaya-manohara
I am working in an educational institution as a management trainee for a period of 3 months, and I have completed my 1st month as a probationary period. This was mentioned in my email where no offer letter was issued. Therefore, considering the email, I joined as a probation management trainee. However, I am not willing to continue from my 2nd month. Am I supposed to pay the 3 months' salary to the management when I terminate my probation? Kindly help me to resolve my query.

Did you receive any communication to join as a 'Probationary Trainee'? If yes, what were the terms and conditions?

Presuming there is no such communication, and even if you received a communication to join as a 'Probationer' and this communication doesn't contain any liability imposed on you to pay the salary in case you leave during the probation, then you'll have no compulsion to repay the salary. Also, if you are 'terminated,' then there is no need to repay the salary. It is better to read the terms and conditions, if any.
