Sick Leave under Shops & Establishment Act - Can sick leave be taken on account of family members being sick?

Dear Seniors, Can sick leave be taken on account of family members being sick?
Definition of family members being restricted to Husband, Wife, Son, Daughter, Father and Mother.

As per my knowledge Sick leave is given for self, not for your family members.

Yes, sick leave cannot be availed of for attending for family members who are sick.

Sick Leave is always applied for self.....for family member's sickness one is required to apply Casual Leave/Earned Leave.

Dear Deepika,
Employee cannot avail/claim for Sick leave as per S&E Act for their family members.
But there are different scenarios of the company now a days. As per company policy , if company have policy for their employee that they can avail Paid leave in case of ill health of their family members, then employee can get the benefit, and company can adjust his/her SL/CL/EL in that case.
