How Should Increment Timing Be Calculated After a Delayed Raise? Seeking Advice on Joining Date vs. Increment Month

Dear Concern,

Employee D.O.J. is 01-01-2016. After completion of one year, he is expecting an annual increment in January 2017. The company has given the annual increment. In January 2018, again he is expecting an annual increment, but the company has given the increment in October 2018 and adjusted his 9 months arrears.

My question is, in 2019, will his increment be calculated from his joining date or from that month (Oct 2019) in which the company has given the increment?

In this scenario, the calculation of the increment for the year 2019 should be based on the actual increment date set by the company, which is October 2019. The company has established a new increment cycle starting from October, and this is the reference point for calculating future increments for this employee. It is essential to follow the company's policy on increment cycles and adjust the employee's salary accordingly from October 2019 onwards.

Considering the adjustments made previously and the new increment cycle initiated in October 2018, the employee's increment for the year 2019 should reflect the annual increase based on the company's policy effective from October 2019. It is crucial to maintain consistency in applying the increment cycle to ensure fairness and transparency in remuneration practices. If there are any specific policies or guidelines regarding increment calculations in the company's HR or employment documentation, those should be referred to for further clarification.
