EPFO - employer deducts and remits Rs. 2,400 from the employee which is equal to 12% and as employer contribution he remits Rs.1,800?

Hi all... Please help me in this regard! Basic + DA of an employee is Rs. 20,000/- His employer deducts and remits Rs. 2,400 from the employee which is equal to 12% and as employer contribution he remits Rs.1,800 towards the employees EPF & EPS Account. Whether this is correct or not? Thanks in advance!

Hi,
contributing to EPF is mandatory for the employees who have a basic salary plus dearness allowance is up to Rs.15,000 (earlier it was Rs.6,500). So the employer is legally right to remit Rs.1800/- which 12% of 15000/-
