Disciplinary action - possible fake certificate - employee has good name in company and is perfect in his work

Hello friends, I have joined newly in the aesthetics industry. Due certain internal change in management the CEO company wants everyone in the concern to be genuine. So I was given responsibility to check everyone working quality.
While recollecting every employees personal data, found one our employee has not submitted his degree certificate while joining, just has given a photocopy of it. I found something wrong in it , so I directly enquired the employee to submit original for verification , but his answers got my suspicion high. So I enquired with the university from which he has submitted the certificate , found that there was no such person has graduated from that university, so he has submitted the fake one for time being.
But the employee has good name in company and is perfect in his work. I don't know how to escalate this issue. If I keep quiet I will be black marked.
Kindly suggest me friends also what kind of action will the management would take on this employee, there will be any legal action against the employee.

Fake degrees are not uncommon.When you checked with University did you inform your superior or suo motto quietly enquired.
Put the matter in writing and officially inform your HoD and ask the employee to submit his original documents and then get them verified.If reply is negative, company should take action.
Do not hush things up or be silent.False degrees are a real problem area and be active in stopping such irregularities.
