Dear All, PFA Tamilnadu Minimum wages - All Schedule Employments

The average CPI index of Chennai city for the year 2018 is 269. The base year average point is 161. The DA will be 269 (2018 Average) - 161 (Base Year Average) = 108 points increase from the base year. Kindly multiply the per point amount for each scheduled employment given in the attachment with 108 to arrive at the DA amount. The DA amount is constant for all cadres and zone-wise for respective scheduled employment.

Note: For every 5 years, basic wages increase, and this year, shops & commercial establishment basics have been increased in March 2019. Refer to the GO date in the attachment where the basic wages have been increased in mid-2018 or 2019. The same can be found in the Tamilnadu gazette publication or you can get the minimum wages book for 2019-20 from any labour and statutory bookstore.

To calculate the total gross minimum wages per month, you can follow these steps:

1. Determine the minimum wage rate: Find out the applicable minimum wage rate set by the local government or relevant labor laws.

2. Calculate the total minimum wage per hour: Multiply the minimum wage rate by the number of hours worked in a standard workweek. This will give you the total minimum wage per hour.

3. Estimate the total hours worked per month: Multiply the total hours worked in a standard workweek by the number of weeks in a month to estimate the total hours worked per month.

4. Calculate the total gross minimum wages per month: Multiply the total minimum wage per hour by the estimated total hours worked per month. This will give you the total gross minimum wages per month.

To calculate the total gross minimum wages per month and separate the basic and Dearness Allowance (DA), you can follow these steps:

1. Start by determining the total gross minimum wages by adding the basic wages and the DA.
2. To separate the basic wages from the DA, subtract the DA from the total gross minimum wages.
3. The result will give you the basic wages component, while the DA amount will be the difference between the total gross minimum wages and the basic wages.

By following these steps, you can accurately calculate the total gross minimum wages per month and distinguish between the basic wages and Dearness Allowance.
