Left a Job During Training: Can I Rejoin the Same Company Years Later Without Issues?

Samarnoha
I joined Larsen & Toubro EEC Ltd Construction Division in India 10 years ago through campus placement. I signed a bond of 2 lakhs for a period of 2 years. After joining, I left the company within 6 months. However, I didn't receive any notice from the court on behalf of the company, and also didn't receive any mails or intimation from the company afterwards.

I joined another company after that incident and continued my career further, eventually moving abroad for better opportunities. Recently, I received an interview invitation from LNT ECC division in Dubai and participated in it. Fortunately, I got selected for the position.

During salary negotiation with HR, I was asked to provide an experience certificate from LNT (which I don't have) and also to provide the employer number during my tenure with LNT, India. HR further mentioned that if I had absconded or left the company without prior information, my candidature might be canceled once my application is forwarded for approval from LNT Head Office, India.

Please advise me. Can I still join LNT by telling them the truth, or should I let it go? Currently, I am jobless as I recently lost my job.

It is the employer's prerogative to consider and employ the most suitable candidate for the post. In view of the information you provided in your post, it is self-evident that you "quit" your employment without following the terms and conditions of your employment, making you liable for breach of contract obligations on your part. It is better to truthfully inform your present employer.
