Facing Job Offer Rejection Due to Missing Form 16: What Should I Do Next?

Hello All, I received an offer letter from Cognizant on 30-Dec-2018, and my joining date is 4-March-2019. Previously (in 2014), I worked in a company that used to provide salary in cash, so I don't have a bank statement. However, I do have a joining letter, experience letter, and payslip from that company. The company is still active, and they can easily verify my details there.

Unfortunately, my recruiter HR informed me that they will not proceed with my candidature as I don't have a Form 16. According to him, my application has been rejected. Additionally, I have not received any official mail from Cognizant regarding the BGV status.

I am currently working, and my major work experience comes from my current employer. I have all the necessary documents from my current employer. Since I am on my notice period, please advise on what steps I should take.
